Kind Coffee is an active member of the organization, 1% For the Planet. As their MISSION STATEMENT reads
"1% For The Planet is an alliance of businesses committed to leveraging their resources to create a healthier planet. Members recognize their responsibility to and dependence on a healthy environment and donate at least 1% of their annual net revenues to environmental organizations worldwide. The alliance aims to prove that taking environmental responsibility is good for business."Kind Coffee has always recognized the importance of a clean and healthy environment and is proud to be a member of this wonderful organization. It allows us the flexibility of donating where we see fit while creating a branding of our product with other like-minded businesses.
In 2005 the purchase of our blue scooter became the inspiration for an environmental line of coffees. Kind Coffee purchased the scooter for quick around town deliveries. Very soon our "blue scoot" became an icon of our green business practices.
In celebration of Earth Day, Roast 422 was introduced on April 22, 2006. By choosing four environmental groups throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico, we worked to promote the wildness of the West and help preserve natural habitats.
In 2007, the devastating effects of global warming became an acknowledged national issue (aka an inconvenient truth). We worked to increase awareness through the sales of our Polar Blend, noting the problem of the rapidly melting polar ice caps.
Trying to develop and maintain access to clean water, which is often taken for granted, is a challenge throughout the world. In 2008 we were inspired to create a new espresso blend called H2SPRO in an effort to bring light to this global issue.
